Introduction
Designing a website is an art. It's not just about choosing colors and fonts; it's also about finding the right balance between these elements and the overall design of your site. However, even after you've spent years in front of your computer screen designing websites, there are still things that can go wrong when designing a project. Here are some common mistakes designers make:
Mixing styles
When you mix styles, you're asking your readers to interpret the visual language of each piece. If you're using a lot of different fonts and colors, it can be confusing for your reader if they don't understand what style is being used in each design element.
In some cases, mixing styles works well as long as they are related and make sense together. For example, if you have a website that's all about cooking but want to include some photography on it (and why wouldn't we?!), then using two similar-looking designs that are related would work well together—even if one is more formal than the other!
Making them too big, huggy or too small
The size of your design is important, but it's also a common mistake. When you're designing a brochure or poster and want to make sure your text is legible at the largest possible size, it can be tempting to go with "huge" font sizes on every page in order to fit as much information as possible onto each page. This can lead to visual overload and make your message difficult or impossible for people who are using low vision aids like magnifiers or readers.
Instead of going with huge fonts everywhere (which could also cause eyestrain), consider making sure that there's consistency throughout each page so that people will not have trouble reading what they're meant to read when they look at the whole thing together!
Using the wrong color scheme
Making too many of one item
If you've made too many of one item, you can fix it by adding more than just a few. You may also be able to sell some on Etsy or another marketplace.
To avoid making too many in the first place, try not to make something unless it's going to be popular with enough people that they'll buy multiple copies.
Spending all your time with 1 style.
Although it’s important to have a style that feels comfortable and familiar, don’t get stuck in one.
If you only have time to work on one project at a time, don't worry! You can always return to your original design later. But if you're trying out new styles and find yourself getting bored or frustrated with them (which is completely normal), try switching things up by working on another project for a while. This helps keep your creativity fresh and prevents burnout from setting in too quickly—and who wants that?
When working with other designers or clients, it's also helpful to keep up with trends as they develop over time so that when someone asks for something similar again later down the line, there won't be any surprises!
Not using your imagination enough
To be a successful designer, you need to be able to use your imagination. If you don't have one or if it's not fully developed yet, then the best thing that can happen is for someone else (such as clients) to give you a problem so that you can use your creativity.
If they're willing and able to do this in a way that makes sense for them, then go ahead and ask how they'd like it solved—or even better: offer up an idea yourself! You never know what might come out of it!
When you have a lot of experience, you will probably realize you were making mistakes.
When you have a lot of experience, you will probably realize you were making mistakes. You'll learn from your mistakes and become a better designer. You'll also be able to avoid repeating the same mistakes again in the future.
However, if those things don't happen with enough time or effort that could cause some people to think that designers are just unprofessional or lazy - which isn't true at all!
Conclusion
If you are a designer, there are some things that you should know. The most important thing is to take a step back every once in a while and see what's happening with your design. Don't just keep doing the same thing over and over again; try out new ideas, or experiment with color schemes or layout. And remember: if something doesn't work well then change it!
